Kuala Lumpur really surprised me in a great way: It's an incredibly diverse population; people come from all parts of the world to live in KL: Africa, India, Thailand, the middle east, Indonesia...
And the city has tons of modern amenities and creature comforts... (I even enjoyed a free Bikram Yoga class!)
